Uluru ~ Trip 2021
Full Itinerary

May 7 – Friday
Sails in the Desert Hotel
Upon your arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you’ll be greeted by your friendly and professional touring crew. We then set off and enter the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park for a drive around the base of Uluru before checking in to the award-winning, 5-star Sails in the Desert Hotel, part of the Ayers Rock Resort. Settle in to your accommodation and get ready for the unique ‘Sounds of Silence’ dining experience under the stars. If time do a bike ride around Uluru?
Offering the best of the Red Centre distilled into four magical hours, ‘Sounds of Silence’ begins with canapes and chilled sparkling wine served on a viewing platform overlooking Uluru. As the sun sets and darkness falls, listen to the sound of a didgeridoo and enjoy a premium bush tucker inspired buffet incorporating native bush ingredients. Afterwards, relax by the campfire and listen to the resident star talker decode the southern night sky.

May 8 – Saturday
Exploring the Olgas & Field of Light

This morning early risers will experience the sun rising over Uluru and the colours of dawn spreading across the landscape. After breakfast, head off to discover Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and admire the stunning rock formations on a guided walk into Walpa Gorge. Then, return for a guided tour around the base of Uluru, which stands 348 metres above the desert plains. Learn about traditional Anangu culture as you marvel at one of the largest monoliths in the world!
This afternoon we prepare for our visit to artist Bruce Munro’s global phenomenon ‘Field of Light’. Aptly named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku (looking at lots of beautiful lights), ‘Field of Light’ features 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted spheres, spread across an area the size of 7 football fields.
Departing the resort before sunset, we head to an exclusive dune top location with majestic views of Uluru. Enjoy drinks and canapés as Field of Light gently illuminates and the 50,000 glass spheres come to life. After your host provides some insights into this remarkable installation, you’ll head off to explore the stunning display via the dedicated pathways.
This evening we return to the hotel for dinner and our final night at Sails in the Desert.
